We are pleased to announce our first 5K Run/Walk event for Saturday April 21, 2012 beginning and ending at Roslyn High School. It will follow a course through the historic Village of Roslyn. The race honors the memory of Greg Fried, a beloved Roslyn track and field coach. The race will be publicized through websites, press releases, newsletters, flyers and businesses on Long Island, as well as the Roslyn Schools. We need the help of sponsors and donors like you to make this event a success. Contributions are tax deductible and we are excited to announce that the first $25,000 of sponsorships will be matched dollar for dollar, which will substantially leverage your gift.
The Roslyn Bulldogs Booster Association (RBBA) is a tax exempt, non profit organization that supports the spirit and athletic programs of the Roslyn school district. The RBBA is entirely comprised of volunteer parents that support these programs through our fundraising initiatives and donation of time. RBBA strives to ensure that the best athletic and physical education programs and facilities areavailable to all students, in an effort to enhance pride in our community and the students' athleticexperience. To date we have donated almost $500,000 to the district including $25,000 in student scholarships. Our initiatives have included the development of the high school field turf and entrance complex, the establishment of a "Wall of Fame" and the sponsorship of many special events and clinics. Our latest project is the rebuilding of the field house/locker room at Roslyn High School.
GREG FRIED- was an outstanding teacher, track and cross country coach from Roslyn High School, and the Manhasset and Wheatley school districts in Nassau County, Long Island, NY for over 40 years. He passed away from ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) in November 2010. His students, athletes and peer coaches were a huge part of his life. They all brought him joy and satisfaction from their personal and athletic growth through hard work and dedication.
