There is a beautiful park in Roslyn-North Hills area. It is centrally located north of the Long Island Expressway. The Christopher Morley Park is located on 98 acres. This park, has been in the here in Nassau county since 1961. The park provides many opportunities for recreation and exercise.
You will find five tennis courts, and four basketball courts. There are also three baseball field. You will also find an outdoor swimming pool at this park. It is an Olympic-sized pool complete with diving boards, and small children’s pool. Christopher Morley offers an ice skating rink; the rink is 200-feet by 80-feet. It is used by recreational skaters and various hockey teams. Lessons are available. Within the park are 30 acres of wooded nature trails. This is a luxury for those to jog or just take a peaceful walk.
Family and children will enjoy the playground with the huge climbing apparatus. There is a large boat basin for boat enthusiasts. Families may also like the free picnic area with outdoor grilling equipment.
There is a dog run located on the north side of the parking lot. Dogs are not allowed in any park or preserves in the county, except in the dog runs. Many people come to this park to see The Christopher Morley “Knothole.” It is a small one room wooden cabin that was lived in by the 20th century editor and writer Christopher Morley.
Near Roslyn is Centennial Park. This centrally located near the South Shore. Centennial Park offers a 2-acre community resource. This is a newly remodeled park that offers a lot of recreational activities. There is a large playground with eight swings, and a dozen basketball hoops. You will also find tennis courts. Water sprinklers are available in the summer along with picnic tables. The basketball courts have fiberglass backboards. The park is one oldest parks in the county.
