Roslyn Heights is a great city to live, which is located in Nassau County, New York. Since WWII, Roslyn heights have been offering families a great choice in housing in the Long Island area. After the war, this area underwent a drastic transformation. This transformation made the area appealing to families with large housing developments. Most of the homes here were built in the 1800's. While driving down Old Northern Boulevard, one will see several beautiful stores in historic buildings. This city has a great deal of mom and pop style shops. It is a personal touch to see the owners working their boutiques and markets, in the downtown area.
Like something out of a Norman Rockwell painting, this picturesque town, has everything one could want right at their fingertips. There are several homes and building which are on the National Register of Historic Places. For those who love the great outdoors, Gerry Park is a nice place to visit. Beautiful gazebos, ponds and paths make this place an excellent place to spend the day or have a picnic.
In the 1960's this was a rocking place with several rock style bars. Today, the town is quieter, but still has several restaurant style bars. There are about 2,700 residents who call Roslyn Heights home. The houses here because they are older, are around 2,500 square feet on average. Most sit on less than an acre of land. Though there are many newer developments, there are a lot of homes that were built in the 50's and 60's. These homes are on the western side of Roslyn Heights.
New developments are still being built in this city. The Horizon at Roslyn, an apartment complex for the elderly, opened in the spring of 2007. The Sterling Glen of Roslyn, a new apartment community offers one and two bedroom apartments. Roslyn Heights is a great place to live, no matter what ones age.
